Description of Garment:
Linen Jacket w/ Metallic Coating

Care Label Instructions: Dryclean Only
Problem: This jacket contained a powdered metallic coating that was affixed to the fabric with an adhesive binder. The adhesive binder dissolved when this jacket was drycleaned in perchloroethylene, causing a loss of the metallic coating.
Responsibility: The manufacturer's. This garment failed when drycleaned according to the care label instructions due to the solubility (in perchloroethylene) of the adhesive binder.
Recommendation: If the above-mentioned damage occurs when this jacket is drycleaned in accordance with the care label instructions, it should be returned to it's place of purchase for a refund or exchange
Drycleaner: Explain the potential serviceability issues to the customer. Since this jacket may prove to be unserviceable when processed in accordance with the care label instructions, a signed release of liability should be obtained prior to acceptance. We have no data as to the serviceability of this jacket in alternate solvents.
