Description of Garment:

 Black Faux Leather Skirt

Care Label Instructions: Dry Cleaning Recommended

Problem: The fabric is contains a polyurethane coating that is meant to resemble leather. The coating partially dissolved when the skirt was drycleaned in perchloroethylene, causing the coating to peel and separate from the backing.

Responsibility: The manufacturer's. This garment failed when drycleaned according to the care label instructions. This was due to the solubility of the resinous coating in standard drycleaning solvent (perchloroethylene).

Recommendation: If the above-mentioned damage occurs when this skirt is drycleaned in accordance with the care label instructions, it should be returned to its place of purchase for a refund or exchange.

Drycleaner: Explain the potential serviceability issues to the customer. Since this garment may prove to be unserviceable when processed by the care label instructions, a signed release of liability should be obtained prior to acceptance. We have no data as to the serviceability of this skirt in alternate solvents..
