Care Label Instructions: "Hand Wash, For Best Results, Dryclean"

Problem: This dress is trimmed with fabric squares that matched the shell. The trimming lost brightness when drycleaned in hydrocarbon solvent, while the shell was not affected.

Responsibility: The manufacturer. The trimming (only) contained a fluorescent optical brightener that failed when the dress was drycleaned in accordance with the care label instructions. This resulted in the "yellowing" of the trimming.

Recommendation: If this dress proves to be unserviceable when processed according to the care label instructions, it should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund or exchange

Drycleaner: Explain the potential serviceability issues to the customer. Since this dress may prove to be unserviceable when processed by the care label instructions, a signed release of liability should be obtained prior to it's acceptance for processing. We have no data as to the serviceability of this dress when wetcleaned or drycleaned in other types of solvent.
